Beryl is the general category for several gemstones:Â
.) Emerald is one of the best known and is green. Tradition says this stone promotes peaceful feelings.Â
.)Â Aquamarine, also well known, is a pale blue, sometimes almost colorless.Â
.) Heliodor is golden yellow, usually very light and somewhat greenish
.) Morganite is baby girl pink to rose, as a rule, but can also come in peach.
.) Goshenite is white to clear. Â
.) Golden beryl is a very clear yellow with few flaws.
.) Maxixe is the very deep blue beryl, extremely rare, and liable to damage by prolonged exposure to light, so if you're ever lucky enough to get this beauty, keep it put away when you're not wearing it! (We had a few on strands of aquamarine a couple of years ago, and still want more!)
.) Red Beryl is another extremely rare stone, sometimes known as red emerald, and is known to go as high as $10,000/carat for top quality.Â
Fine beryl is classified as a precious gem.
